Authorship Change Policy
The Global Open Access Journal of Science (GOAJS) considers authorship to be a significant aspect of scientific integrity and transparency. Changes to authorship—including the addition, removal, or reordering of authors—are governed by strict ethical standards and must be handled carefully to protect the rights of all contributors.
Before Manuscript Acceptance
Requests for authorship changes before manuscript acceptance must be submitted by the corresponding author to the editorial office. The request must include:
- A clear reason for the authorship change.
- Written confirmation (e.g., signed letter or email) from all listed authors, including those being added or removed, confirming their agreement with the change.
All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission or resubmission.
After Manuscript Acceptance or Publication
Requests for authorship changes after acceptance or publication are reviewed with greater scrutiny. Such changes require:
- Formal written approval from all current and proposed authors.
- A detailed explanation justifying the change.
- In the case of disputes, the journal may contact the affiliated institution(s) for clarification and may defer action until resolution.
If an authorship change is approved after publication, a corrigendum (correction notice) will be published to document the update.
Authorship Criteria
GOAJS follows the authorship guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), which state that authorship should be based on:
- Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
- Drafting or critically revising the work for intellectual content.
- Final approval of the version to be published.
- Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work.
Preventing Authorship Disputes
Authors are strongly encouraged to finalize authorship and order of names before submission. Disputes arising after submission may delay review or publication.
